Jerry Sandusky’s now-adult accusers now describe their victimization by him. His wife Dottie remains psychologically a child. She continues to be mesmerized by his charisma and manipulations.
The article says that Dottie and Jerry couldn’t have children of their own. Perhaps she felt inadequate to give him fatherhood, and therefore inauthentic as his wife. He set her up to become his adoring child. Dottie believed her husband/father to be her only real protector from the malevolent world surrounding them. Like the other children in his life, he used her.
Dottie is in her senior years, and Jerry is an exposed, pathetic shell.
Dottie is also a tragic figure. At some level, she knows the truth, but cannot tell it to anyone else or herself.
“Tell the truth and tell it ever, costeth what it will;
For he who hides the wrong he did, does the wrong thing still.”
