Criminal justice reform – bringing ex-felons on board as responsible citizens.

Markk

The goals of incarceration are punishment and rehabilitation of convicted law-breakers into becoming law-abiding citizens. But denying voting-rights to ex-felons belies true intent to help them practice lawful involvement in the community after release. If we want criminals to care about living as non-criminals, we need to give them the expectation and respect of being able to responsibly consider the issues effecting their lives, and vote.        To keep ex-felons as permanent outcasts from voting diminishes their ability to believe that lawful citizenship applies to them.
